Aman was solely focused on establishing his own company, as that had been his dream since he was young. His focus shifted from the important aspects he needed to take his startups off the ground, eventually leading to their failures. Aman was over-confident in his early startups, that he focused more on the production facets rather than the products he was going to sell to his customers. He even set up a spacious office and employed a huge staff, without putting any thought on the products he Intended to sell. This self-assurance led to slip ups in the end, forcing him to rethink his strategies.
Aman has also faced challenges with his company, boAt, but he padded through the mess and emerged victorious. Designing of boAt’s products are usually done in India but they are manufactured in China, so geopolitical tensions between China and India really had a huge impact on Gupta’s company. Another challenge is the company’s overreliance on Amazon and Flipkart, which generates more than two thirds of the company’s revenue. Covid-19 also had a negative impact in boAt’s production process, as China is responsible for manufacturing these products. Since the country was among the worst hut during the pandemic, this resulted in delays in the production process of boAt’s products.
BoAt also had to compete with already established brands in the market, so they were forced to come up with innovative solutions to make them stand out from these brands. One of Aman’s plans was to create a vigorous advertisement campaign, to promote boAt’s products. This prompted him to partner with several cricket players in the country, to sell the company to the people. Cricketers who partnered with Aman in this advertising campaign were Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Rishab Pant, and Virat Kohli. BoAt also partnered with Lakme Fashion Week in 2019 to promote the company’s products, where it portrayed itself as a lifestyle brand and not an electronic brand.
