Namita Thapar

Namita Thapar is an entrepreneur, businessperson, and an investor in more than 100 companies across India. She is the founder of the Young Entrepreneurs Academy Canada, which are located in Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, and Chennai. Her company empowers youths and students between 11 to 18 years, to pursue their entrepreneurial goals confidently. The Early Life of Namita Thapar

Namita Thapar was born in 21st March, 1997 in Pune, India. She is the daughter of Satish Ramanlal Mehta and Bhavana Mehta. She has one brother, Samit Mehta, who is currently the CEO of Research and Development (R&D) at Emcure Pharmaceuticals company. Namita undertook her primary and secondary studies in her home city Pune, and even enrolled in one of the universities there. Word out there state that Namita took her studies seriously, and always topped her class in most of the exams she took while in school. She enrolled at the Savitribai Phule Pune University where she did her Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Commerce, before pursuing her studies further to The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) to study Chartered Accountancy (CA). She then moved to the United States, to pursue her Masters Degree. She enrolled at the Fuqua School of Business in Duke University, North Carolina, where she graduated with a Masters in Business Administration in 2001.

Namita then started dating Vikas Thapar a few years later, and they finally got married in 2013. They are blessed with two sons whom they named Jai Thapar and Vir Thapar. Namita stated that she fancied these names from an Indian movie called Sholay, which she decided to name her sons after the lead characters in that film. Namita Thapar is also a Trustee on the TiE Mumbai Board of Trustees and she is very active in the Young Presidents Organization in the region. She is also on the management team of the Fuqua School of Business India. Namita Thapar has also worked closely with the Government of India, supporting the initiatives led by the country’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Some of these initiatives are the Champions of Change campaign and the NITI Aayog’s Women Entrepreneurship Platform.

After graduating from Duke University in 2001, Namita was employed to the Guidant Corporation (a medical device company in America) as the Business Finance manager. She served in this position for six years, before relocating back to India to work in her father’s company, Emcure Pharmaceuticals. She was employed as the Chief Financial Officer, before being promoted to the position of Executive Director in 2007, a position she holds to date.
